Trauma Aware and Sensitive Practice

1 day         On-line £900         In person £1,395 + expenses          Max 20 people

A trauma informed and responsive workforce is one "...that is capable of recognising where people are affected by trauma and adversity, that is able to respond in ways that prevent further harm and support recovery, and can address inequalities and improve life chances.” www.nes.scot.nhs.uk

Becoming trauma informed is a continual learning and reflective process. It is a journey with four distinct steps; becoming trauma aware, sensitive, informed and responsive. A journey that starts with appreciating how common trauma is and what needs to change in our practice. This one-day workshop will provide an introduction to understanding psychological trauma, celebrate what you do well, enhance skills and knowledge, and prioritise next steps.

At the end of the workshop you will,
- understand the prevalence and impact of psychological trauma
- recognise  potential trauma related signs and behaviours
- appreciate the impact on health, thoughts, behaviours and emotions
- support recovery by minimising re-traumatisation, and understanding the stress response
- have reflected on the emotional impact of your work
